Sharup Karim is a nationally performing South Asian American standup comedian as well as a regular headline and features contributor for The Onion with numerous headlines and jokes published over the past 5 years. He was previously featured at the NBC Break Out Festival at Second City and on both Kenan Thompson's "Road to NYC" showcase at the Chicago Laugh Factory and Kenan Presents "Spotlight Showcase" in Atlanta. He has also performed at other renowned venues such as Zanies Chicago, Zanies Nashville, The Laughing Tap in Milwaukee, Dallas Comedy House, Comedy Oakland, The Comedy Bar, Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle, and has been featured at multiple comedy festivals including The Milwaukee Comedy Festival, The World Comedy Expo, the Flyover Comedy Festival in St. Louis, the Floodwater Comedy Festival in Iowa City, LaughFest Grand Rapids, The North Carolina Comedy Festival, and the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. In 2019, he was joined by 2 other comedians on the Outcasted Comedy Tour which has opened to sold-out shows in Chicago, San Francisco, Washington D.C., New York City, Detroit, Philadelphia, Boston, and Stanford University.
"Currency Exchange" will be Sharup's debut standup comedy album recording and will dive deep into what it means to pull an identity out of one country and convert it into something marginally promising in another.
